Our family resides in Central Missouri. John and Carrie operate a row crop farm, an agricultural excavating business and a foundation herd of Angus, Chianina and Maine-Anjou cattle.
Raising and showing cattle is a rich part of our family history. Carrie's grandparents, Arthur and Olivia Ferguson, were life long breeders of Angus cattle. Her parents, Gordon and Sandra Ferguson, had their own herd of Angus cattle and also raised club calves. In 1993 they raised the Champion Steer at the North American International Exposition in Louisville, KY.
Life is ever changing and ours was forever changed in 2016 when Carrie's dad, Gordon, passed after a short and hard fought battle with cancer. John, Carrie and Sandra decided to continue the cattle operation and carry on the legacy of striving to breed good cattle.
John and Carrie's girls, Jillian and Adrienne, started showing club lambs in 2015. In 2017 they showed their first calves, a steer purchased from a family friend and a home raised steer and a home raised Angus heifer. Both girls fell in love with cattle. Each year since, they have showed at least one bred and owned calf.
The girls are the fourth generation in the family to raise and show cattle. We are proud of this family tradition. Visit our History page to see more old photos and stories about the passion for showing good livestock throughout the generations.
The cow/calf operation and the show cattle are year round activities and it takes the whole family to keep it all going. Along with John, Carrie, Jillian and Adrienne, Carrie's mom and sister, Sandra and Amy Ferguson, are both actively involved on the farm. Like most family businesses, it takes a village.
Raising cattle is a labor of love. Much thought is given to each decision, along with a whole lot of heart. Lots of blood, sweat and tears go into getting a calf on the ground and raising that calf to the point of entering the show ring. This is our passion and we love what we do.
